Castle and Temple of the Descending God, Tulum, Mexico
Probably the most important structure in Tulum, the Castle (El Castillo) was built in several stages. It is also located on the cliff and can be seen from the cove.
The Temple of the Descending God was built over another temple, which serves as its base. A figure on the temple resembling a God descending from the Sky gives it its name. This figure can be found at other Mayan sights, but appears more often in Tulum than anywhere else.
