Gold Coast, Hancock Center, Chicago
When visiting a city, there are certain highlights that you shouldn't miss. In the case of Chicago, the list of highlights is a long one, so you might have to pick and choose a bit.
One of my favorites is the Hancock Observatory. As a matter of fact, when I visit big cities, I usually try to find some kind of elevation to take in the skyline - and observation decks are perfect for that. Whether it's "The Top of the Rock" or the Empire State Building in New York, the CN Tower in Toronto, or the Hancock Observatory in Chicago, the views on a clear day or night are usually magnificent.
In the case of Chicago, you get a nice 360-degrees view including the old and new skyscrapers of downtown, but what usually captures me is the Gold Coast. It is always so unexpected and beautiful.
